Last night’s ART WALKin Newhall saw 500 people (if not more) in attendance.  The event celebrated art, beauty, music, and more!

Guests saw live art making demonstrations with tattooed models, and were able to view an exhibit titled “Off the Skin,“ featuring the art of local tattoo artists.  DJ’s from the Indie Radio Station KSSR were spinning old school punk and other eclectic tunes, and FRESH Boutique hosted 2 live rockabilly pin-up themed fashion shows.

In addition, the public had their tattoo’s photographed at the event and included them on our Reason Wall.  The height of ART WALK saw Surf Punk legends Agent Orange play a set, and to wrap things up, the City gave away 2 sets of tickets to the Warped Tour to two lucky winners!

City staff where thanked by numerous kids that came to the event!

Underground Radio Hooligans to DJ ART WALK

Our DJ for the evening comes to us from K.S.S.R. Radio in Ventura.  K.S.S.R. is Ventura’s only underground radio hooligans.  89.7FM KSSR, broadcasts live from an old bunker (circa 1940s) deep beneath the train tracks in Ventura.  Come check out DJ CL, Wildboy and Slshr.

ART WALK Fashion Show

Fresh lifestyle boutique will be hosting yet again another funky, vibrant, and cultural fashion show this coming Thursday June 7th. A rendition of rockabilly, and pinup inspired themes will set the stage and illuminate the crowds eyes as we take fashion to a whole new level.  The shows will take place at 5 pm and 6:15 pm.

The Reason Wall

The Reason Wall will give everyone with a tattoo the chance to share with others why they chose to have the art inked into their body.  Come to the ART WALK on Thursday, June 7 in Newhall and have your tattoo photographed on the spot and printed out for you to hang on the “Reasons” Wall.  Write your reason on the wall near your image.  Some tattoos are very personal, while others reflect a person’s sense of humor, religious beliefs, or hobbies.  Tell us your reason!

Agent Orange to Play at Newhall ART WALK

On Thursday, June 7, the City of Santa Clarita will host the monthly ARTWALK happening, from 4 pm to 8 pm, on Main Street in Newhall.  Come see great art, live models, a fashion show, food trucks with attitude, and enjoy live music and a DJ.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Our Special Musical Guest is Punk Rock Legends Agent Orange!  Agent Orange formed in Orange County, California in 1979. The band is one of the first to mix punk rock with surf music. They first gained attention with their song “Bloodstains” which they released on their own 7″ E.P.  “Bloodstains” was presented to Pasadena radio station KROQ-FM‘s D.J. Rodney Bingenheimer, which soon became one of his show’s biggest hits.

Agent Orange will perform at 7 pm.

On Thursday, June 7, the City of Santa Clarita will host the monthly ART WALK happening, from 4 pm to 8 pm, on Main Street in Newhall.  Come see great art, live models, a fashion show, food trucks with attitude, and enjoy live music and a DJ.

The June ART WALK will focus on the Art of the Tattoo.  A one-night art show titled Off the Skin, will feature the work of local talented tattoo artists that practice their craft on canvas, board, paper, and other surfaces.     

A Fashion Show will feature Steam Punk, Rockabilly, and Pin-up models in their latest styles compliments of FRESH!

If you have a tattoo (or tattoo’s), come join us and show it off!

In addition, our SPECIAL MUSICAL GUEST, is Punk Rock Legends  AGENT ORANGE!!  

There will be 2 sets of Warped Tour tickets to give away.  All you need to do is visit the Warped Tour & Agent Orange Merchandise Tent and give us your email address to be entered in the drawing.  The 2 winners will be picked at 8 pm!

Follow the Arrows at Tonight’s Art Walk

Art Walk will continue celebrating Art and Beauty, tonight, May 3, on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Throughout the evening, Zach “ZR” Hill, a curator and art writer for Proxart and Madeline Zima, artist and actor, will create a collaborative art piece at Pulchella Winery.  Catch the live pin-up shoot with beautiful women in vintage bathing suits, and the beachwear fashion show presented by Fresh.  Stay for the live acoustic sets by The Alternative Side and DJ Justin Cornwell.

The Art Walk, on Thursday, May 3, will present, The Alternate Side Band, a Los Angeles based group, playing Jazz harmonies, Funk and R&B grooves.  Come down to Main Street, from 4pm to 8pm, to listen to a preview before their first album is release in June 2012.  Also, check out DJ Justin Cornwall, a 21 year-old music entrepreneur, who has been persevering in the extremely competitive DJ scene, and has been balancing on top of the indie-dance market.
